Load Calculations

Load calculations are the initial step in the HVAC design process. Based on several factors such as building size, solar orientation, window types and sizes, and insulation levels throughout the house, load calculations determine the overall heat loss, heat gain, and HVAC equipment size for the home. From there, duct sizes and duct layout can be determined (as explained in the Duct Design page).

Load calculations are necessary for both new homes and for existing homes where the homeowner is planning an addition or an upgraded HVAC system.

Using floor plan backgrounds provided by the owner, Comfy House can prepare load calculations for a cost of $199 for all houses under 2,500 square feet. For houses more than 2,500 square feet, Comfy House charges the following fees:

$249 for 2,501 - 3,000 sq ft homes

$299 for 3,001 - 3,500 sq ft homes

$349 for 3,501 - 4,000 sq ft homes

$399 for 4,001 - 4,500 sq ft homes

$459 for 4,501 - 5,000 sq ft homes
